Working in partnership with the Louvre to celebrate, in particular, the bicentenary of the discovery of hieroglyphs by Champollion in 1822, these new textiles, wallpapers and rugs collections display a wide range of motifs and drawings, between faithful reproductions and free inspirations, with a respectful view of the preserved works but also a contemporary and graphic reading.
It was during visits to the Egyptian Antiquities Department at the Louvre Museum and related research into the crafts of the period that the contours of the collections were drawn, outside the walls of the museum, within the Pierre Frey studio…
The fabric collection revisits the world of the senses through the evocation of a luxuriant fauna and flora embroidered on linen. The jacquards and prints are reminiscent of hieroglyphics and frescoes in ancient buildings. Wallpapers oscillate between matte and shiny. Matte 3D prints reveal the volume of temple bas-reliefs. The pearlescent, gold and metallic reliefs pay tribute to the jewels, ornaments and ornaments of the pharaohs. A double approach, between tradition and modernity, to savor the splendor of this civilization.
