In tribute to the French region “Provence”, the ETERNEL ETE collection offers a beautiful diversity of designs. Known to all, Provence has built its identity on codes that are still very strong, between art and authenticity. This is precisely what the Pierre Frey Design Studio wished to revisit following an itinerant journey through the lands of Cézanne.
ETERNEL ETE mixes creations from the 50’s, contemporary creations as well as patterns borrowed from popular textile traditions or shapes from the region’s ceramics workshops. It draws and revisits the contours of a luminous landscape between sea and land, transporting us into a cheerful universe, from the Mediterranean to the hinterland of Provence. The name of the collection recalls the works of Picasso and Matisse and evokes the gentle way of life of the French Riviera.
Mermaids, agaves, suns, flowers, ceramics and Provencal boutis are revisited with strength and poetry in a delicate balance between history and modernist influence. The sunny range of matte colors punctuated with metallization, azures, yellows and ochre earthy tones, bring a joyful modernity. Traditional printing qualities are combined with wide digital printing to play with scale, matte finishes with intense or pearly colors reminiscent of ceramic glazes.
