Welcome to the dazzling world of Tony Duquette.
A twentieth-century American design icon and creator of glamorous interiors, film and theatre sets, furnishings, fine jewelry and award-winning costumes, Duquette was an alchemist, conjuring design magic by combining natural and everyday materials into objects of great beauty and delight.
‘Beauty, not luxury, is what I value’ was Duquette’s mantra, and his vivid imagination transformed all that he touched.
‘Duquette’s Dawnridge’ is a collaboration between Jim Thompson and renowned designer Hutton Wilkinson, Duquette’s prot g e and business partner, who worked for over twenty-eight years on their wide-ranging design projects. Wilkinson now owns and has given new life to the fabled residence, preserving the estate as a tribute to Tony and Elizabeth Duquette.
An extensive collection of fabrics, trimmings and wallpaper, ‘Duquette’s Dawnridge’ takes its inspiration from the splendor of the historic residence, presenting patterns and materials that Duquette most loved and used in his work, from malachite and gemstones to animal skins and Chinese lacquer screens. Vibrant color and bold designs are combined with exotic and theatrical accents, reflecting both the storied work and favorite motifs of Duquette.
